We’ve had the first week of our new Radcliffe Forest School this week and have enjoyed exploring our new space.
We have been out into the woods around Close Park, have enjoyed activity at our base around Radcliffe Tower and have been out into the E’es to see what wildlife we can find.
We have been identifying plants, doing mini beast hunts, building dens and learning new skills. We’ve enjoyed playing games, team working with our new friends and exploring this wonderful outdoor space.
The Forest School is open during school holidays for children aged 4-12 years old. During term time our nursery pre-school will be based at the Forest School 3 days a week.
Just 2 minutes walk away from our nursery base we are lucky to have access to this wonderful and varied natural space where we can carry out forest school activity.
This is our second forest school, our first one having been established for 2 years, is based in Prestwich and is extremely popular.
We have 5 fully trained forest school leaders who run all of our outdoor sessions. There is an emphasis on learning through play, building confidence, team work and imagination.
The forest school is open 7.30am to 6pm with drop-off and pick-up at our Radcliffe Nursery.
A typical day at Forest School starts with drop off at the nursery between 7.30am and 9.30am. We then walk the 2 minutes to our site at Radcliffe Tower where we sit on our tree stumps and have a morning meeting led by the children. Here we discuss the rules of forest school and what activity we would like to do that morning. We then do the set activity followed by free play before lunch. We meet back at the nursery for lunch before heading out again either to carry on the morning activity or to start a new activity. The outdoors day ends with more free play before heading back to the nursery at 4.30pm in time for pick up which is available up until 6pm.
