Kids adVentures Forest School is here

We are very excited to be starting Forest School at Garden Needs / Kersal Dale – www.gardenneeds.org.uk. Garden Needs is the ideal base for us to go out and explore, have fun and learn in the beautiful Kersal Dale which is less than a mile from our Prestwich nursery.
Our Forestry School will run as an additional activity for our nursery children during term times. We are also opening our Forestry School as a holiday club during school holidays.
We will also be looking to work with other groups as we are excited about giving as many children (and adults) access to this fantastic facility.
Forest School is an inspirational concept providing learning opportunities through practical activities in an outdoor environment. Children enjoy the freedom to explore and experience the natural world in all seasons and in all weathers. Forest School embraces an approach of nurturing, supporting and developing the self-esteem of participants. It is an ideal environment in which to develop innovation, problem solving, risk taking, creativity and teamwork.

Our Biggest Offer Yet – 10% off a whole year of childcare

To celebrate the start of the New Year we have an offer for all new families –  10% off a full year of childcare.

We recognise that January can be a difficult time of year for families with budgeting stretched for many and often there is an increased demand for childcare in this period.

Because of this we have decided to give families a helping hand to access great quality childcare at Kids adVentures. The 10% off a year of childcare offer equates to up to £969 off at Kids adVentures Prestwich or £816 off at Kids adVentures Radcliffe.

We are able to do this because as one of the only social enterprise led nurseries in the area we do not operate to make profit, our sole aim is to provide opportunities for communities. Any surplus made goes straight back in to providing more great services. This allows us to give families discounts and extra benefits.

Some of the additional services that we include free of charge are, swimming sessions, lots of outdoor activity and forestry school sessions, great home cooked food, high quality learning and events for families.

To qualify for this offer families must book their place before the end of January and must commit to a full year of childcare. In return we will welcome you into the Kids adventures family, provide high quality childcare encompassing fun, movement, imagination and education; and, we will let you know about all of our events both at Kids adVentures and at our community garden centre – Garden Needs.

Places are limited so if you would like to take advantage of this offer get in touch with us on email or call Tel: 0161 212 4965

America Week…America came to Kids Adventures Prestwich!

America Week…America came to Kids Adventures Prestwich!

We have had an extremely busy and eventful week at Kids Adventures Prestwich. Most of our activities this week have been themed around the land of red, white and blue…the United States of America (USA). We have been busy designing and decorating flags, making

A plate full of thankfulness

turkey cakes and thinking about all the things that we are thankful for.

We reflected on these thoughts together over a delicious home made thanksgiving meal. We also talked about the president of the USA and what it means to be president. Our discussions excited four children so much that they wanted to run for nursery president themselves. All the children supported and voted for the candidate that they wanted to win, and I can tell you Well done to all our candidatesthat it was a close knit race all the way to the end.

I want to thank and congratulate all the candidates that ran. After a gruelling election week, I can happily announce that we now have a nursery president! They are currently taking a well deserved break and are excited to begin their new post in the new year!

Happy Thanksgiving

Kids adVentures Prestwich Gains OFSTED GOOD

OFSTED visited Kids adVentures Prestwich on 23rd September 2016. The inspector carried out a full inspection and rated us as GOOD in all areas. This is fantastic news and testament to all the hard work of the Kids adVentures team.

The full report can be viewed on OFSTED’s website.

Some of the things the inspector noted were,

“Children are happy and arrive positively, ready for a day of fun play and learning with their friends. All children have strong attachments with staff.”

“The quality of teaching is good and, as a result, children are motivated to explore and learn. ”

”The provider has high expectations and, overall, helps staff deliver the nursery vision and ethos. This helps children to achieve well, be happy in their play and begin to make memories”

Although getting a good is an indication of the quality of service provided, we have exciting plans to continue to improve.  We have recently taken on two new level two qualified staff (Shannon and Louise) and a level six (Diane), and we recently employed an Early Years Teacher (Kate Lewis) to work in Preschool.

Our aim is to provide a nursery that has a small and friendly, home from home feel. We offer a maximum of 35 childcare places at our nurseries and know each child and their families well. Every day incorporates fun, learning, imagination and movement. As a social enterprise led nursery we are able to provide lots of free extra benefits. These include free swimming sessions for all children, free stretch and grow sessions and healthy and nutritious home cooked meals.

Our staff are dedicated and passionate about providing a high quality of care. Their tireless hard work and enthusiasm really stood out in the OFSTED inspection.

We provide some introductory offers to help parents who are retuning to work, have funded places available and we believe we offer the lowest available nursery childcare fees in the area.

Kids adVentures Fun afternoon with the Elderly

A group of children from Kids adVentures recently went and shared some of their infectious Christmas excitement with a group of local care home residents when we visited The Angel Centre in Salford.

We took along our Christmas hats and some of our favourite musical instruments, we were ready to go and share some fun.

At The Angel Centre we sat in a circle with the older people and we sung them some of our favourite Christmas songs and nursery rhymes. We taught them the actions to some of the rhymes and they all got involved, we all had a lot of fun.

Afterwards we had tea and drinks together where we all shared funny stories. Some of the older people even read to the children.

Even our shyest children got involved with some showing more confidence than usual, participating and telling their own stories. The children involved came away enthused and full of stories about their day when their parents picked them up at home time.

Speaking about the afternoon, Maria Broadhurst, Manager at Kids adVentures Radcliffe says: “The children that got involved in this project really benefited from the afternoon. It was fantastic to see young and old enjoying activities together, helping each other and sharing stories, I hope we can do more of these sessions in the future.”

The older people really enjoyed the afternoon and went away feeling positive having been part of the community for an afternoon.

Kids adVentures will be looking to arrange more interactive activities that span the ages during 2016.
